Opened 1983 as Biathlonstadion am Rennsteig, rebuilt 2001-2003 and modernised 2019-2022 for the 2023 World Championships; capacity about 13,000. Hosted the Biathlon World Championships 2004 and 2023 and World Cups almost every year since 1984; its course is regarded as one of the most difficult on the circuit.
